There are plenty of weird and wonderful things you can fit through a letterbox. Some are welcome and others not so much.
Take, for example, the postman who decided to fold an envelope so that he could get it into a London letterbox. Full marks for ingenuity but go to the back of the class for ignoring the fragile stickers on it. The envelope contained a vinyl record sent as a gift and you can imagine the state it was in by the time it was opened. Vinyl records generally don’t make great letterbox gifts.
And then there is chocolate…..
For milk chocolate lovers, The Milk Letterbox Collection is handmade specifically so that the set of 3 bars of organic chocolate from the Dominican Republic will fit perfectly through the letterbox. Delivered with a bespoke card in a box that states “Hello, I'm yours” people of all ages will appreciate these milk chocolate bars available in 3 flavours.
Flat bottled wine
Flat long bottles of wine are some wonderful things you can fit through a letterbox. Gone are the days of sitting behind the door, funnel in mouth, as the postman poured it in through a tube! Garcon Wines deliver 750ml bottles of red or white and there’s no failed delivery card left on the door mat. The perfectly shaped bottles can be posted through standard size letterboxes. Since the bottles are made from plastic, there is no chance of them smashing. Seeing the tall narrow bottles on a dinner table is an acquired taste, but the wine is delicious.
And then there’s more chocolate…….
Connoisseurs of dark chocolate won’t fail to be impressed by the Limited Edition Gin & Tonic Box containing 2 bars of G&T flavoured Ecuadorean chocolate and 1 of Sea Salt. Great combinations of flavours, to accompany ice cool Gin & Tonics, at any time of the year.
Christmas tree
Believe it or not, John Lewis actually supplies a Christmas tree that can be posted through a letterbox. As you can imagine it’s very tiny. More likely to be used as a dinner table centrepiece or in a child’s dolls house, you can take a closer look at it by clicking on letterbox Christmas Tree. Arriving with all its lights and decorations it’s ideal for minimalists!
Unlikely things you’ll receive through a letterbox
Royal mail parcels - when the postman arrived, you were in but he ran away before you could answer. An appeal for £3 a month to save last year’s X Factor winner from starving - it’s unlikely you’ll receive these things. Check out the Mock the Week video below for more unlikely things to get through your letterbox https://youtu.be/F7e8h9lryOc
And then there’s the letterbox gift that keeps on giving….
Love Cocoa is soon to launch a monthly chocolate club allowing you to bring a little joy into your own, or someone else’s life, every month. Of all things you can fit through a letterbox, chocolate tends to be high on the list of subscription service gifts because most people love it. Learn more by clicking on Chocolate Club
